If you’ve recently got your motorcycle driving license, you must be looking for a starter bike to improve your riding skills and confidence. Your confidence will make you a good rider. A 300cc motorcycle is perfect for gaining confidence. However, certain laws are imposed on interstate highways in the USA.

So, can a 300cc motorcycle go on highways? According to traffic laws of most states in the USA, a motorcycle with an engine size less than 50cc is not allowed on highways. The average highway traffic runs at 60 to 70 miles per hour, and a small engine can not generate enough power to match the speed, which increases accident risk. The top speed of a 300cc sportbike is anywhere between 80 to 110 miles per hour, which can safely go on interstate highways in the USA.

What CC Motorcycle Is Best For Highway?

A motorcycle with a more than 150cc engine size is legal to ride on highways in California. So, you must be aware of the traffic laws of your state.

But 150cc or 180cc isn’t good for commuting on interstate highways. You should get at least a 250cc motorcycle to ride at highway speed safely. Again, it depends on the highway’s speed in your state, the motorcycle’s aerodynamics, power generation, weight, and top speed.

I ride the Honda Rebel 300 with a 286cc engine, which cruises up to 70 to 80 MPH. Whenever I try to accelerate it beyond 90 MPH, it feels sluggish.

So, if you frequently ride on interstate highways, it’s better to get a 500cc motorcycle. But, if you occasionally ride on highways, 300cc is the perfect and economical choice.

How Fast Can A 300cc Motorcycle Go?

The top speed of a motorcycle depends upon various factors like motorcycle weight, rider weight, tire pressure, engine size, etc. A 300cc motorcycle can go up to 80 to 110 miles per hour. However, some 300cc bikes like Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda Rebel 300, BMW G310R, Yamaha MT-03, etc., can go more than 115 MPH.

How Much Power Does A 300cc Bike Generate?

A 300cc motorcycle generates approximately 25 to 30 horsepower. However, it depends upon the type of motorcycle you own. Kawasaki Ninja 300 generates 38 horsepower at 11000 RPM with a maximum torque of 26 Nm at 10000 RPM.

The top speed of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is 112 miles per hour. Due to its massive power and aerodynamics, the Ninja 300 can reach 0 to 60 MPH in just 5.6 seconds.

Is Honda Rebel 300 Good For Highway?

The Honda Rebel 300 is a great competitor to the Ninja 300 for highway rides. I ride a Honda Rebel 300 on the interstate highway, and it’s sufficient for occasional rides. However, sometimes it feels sluggish above 90 MPH. Honda Rebel 500 would be an excellent choice if you frequently ride on interstate highways.

Which Is The Fastest 300cc Motorcycle?

The average top speed of a 300cc motorcycle is between 80 to 110 miles per hour, but the Kawasaki Ninja 300 has reached the top speed of 112 MPH and has become the fastest 300cc motorcycle worldwide.

A 300cc engine size motorcycle is perfect (considering power and fuel economy) for riding on interstate highways. The average traffic speed on highways runs at 60 to 70 MPH (except Alamba), and the Kawakasi Ninja 300 can easily achieve the top speed of 112 MPH.

However, if you have a Honda Rebel 300, it sometimes feels sluggish while overtaking on interstate highways speed. So, I recommend buying the Ninja 300 or going for the Honda Rebel 500.
